2022 Shocking Case: Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson Charged for Husband’s Fiery Death
Widow accused of staging self-immolation to mask husband’s murder
On June 16, 2022, at approximately 5 AM, Susquehanna Township Police in Pennsylvania were called. The dispatcher said the caller identified themselves as Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson. Evelyn would tell the dispatcher that she had found her husband dead on the back pouch, that he had killed himself by “starting a fire and burning himself.”
Police would be dispatched to the home. This was when things started to get peculiar. The dispatcher would note that “something is very off with the caller. She is hesitant to answer questions.” It was also noted that Evelyn had said she heard her husband calling her name for help around 1 AM but didn’t call 911 until hours later.
When police arrived, they found the badly burned, naked body of eighty-four-year-old Carmen Henderson on the back porch.
Carmen Henderson was known in the community as he retired in 1995 as a Dauphin County deputy sheriff, and that couple had previously owned a limousine service. Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson, now sixty-six, had been a local political candidate, starting as a county clerk at twenty-seven in 1983.
