The young men thought they could outsmart law enforcement but left behind identifying evidence.

The Abduction

On May 21, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, fourteen-year-old Bobby Franks went missing while walking home from school. His father, Jacob Franks, was a wealthy watch manufacturer and was well known and highly respected in their community.

The evening of his abduction, Bobby’s parents received a phone call from a man who called himself “George Johnson” and informed them that their son had been abducted but was safe and they would give him back for a $10,000 ransom. The man said random instructions would arrive shortly.

The teacher experiences episodes of disassociative fugue and has gone missing twice in the past.

September 2017 had been a vicious hurricane season for the Caribbean. The island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands was battered from hurricane Irma when word got out that there would be a second hurricane approaching. With days to prepare, residents of the small island began to either evacuate the island or bunkered down.

One of the residents who chose to stay was thirty-two-year-old Hannah Upp. Hannah taught at the island’s Montessori school and was described as vibrant, energetic, fearless, and adventurous. But the stress from the hurricanes seemed to be taking a toll. While she was…

The black widow murderer used antifreeze to kill her victims.

It was a Sunday afternoon on August 22, 2005, when a 9–1–1 dispatcher in Syracuse, New York, received a call from a distressed wife. She said that she and her husband had an argument, and he had been drinking heavily and had locked himself in their bedroom the night before. She said she had gone to a friend’s house for the night and went to work that morning but became concerned when he didn’t come into work. Her name was Stacey Castor, and she was the office manager for her husband, David Castor’s air conditioning company.

She said that her…

How did the sinking of the Titanic start a series of events that would doom the magnificent property?

Half an hour from the city center of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, there are crumbling stone and wrought iron fencing that hint presence of gilded history in amongst the suburban homes. Pieces of stunning craftsmanship withstanding the test of time. Though it may not look like it now, the area of Elkins Park was once home to Philadelphia’s elite. Sprawling estates made up the area, showcasing the finest craftsmanship and eclectic tastes. Many of these estates are shadows of their former glory. One such estate is the magnificent Lynnwood Hall.

The Guilded Era

In the early 1800s, Philly was nestled between the Schuylkill River and…

You don’t have to be a gig worker long to gather some crazy stories

I needed some extra cash when I bought my first new car in 2017. The monthly payments didn’t seem that difficult, but I hadn’t actually budgeted for them, and I should have. Lucky for me, a particular delivery app had just rolled into town, and they needed drivers, and I had a new car.

I had no idea what to expect. There wasn’t any training offered. I sent my information, and the company’s instructions on the app were vague. So I swiped to “check-in,” and my first delivery came in. …

In a 999% increase from my normal income on the platform

I want to make this abundantly clear; this is NOT my average AdSense revenue payout. As you can see here, I usually only make a couple of hundred bucks. I wanted to make this article to show that smaller creators can earn very decent money if they keep at it.

This technique is solving hundreds of cases a year, some even decades-old.

Genetic genealogy continues to make waves, with the technique being used to solve hundreds of old cold cases. Several new companies are coming forward to aid police in using publically available DNA to piece together family trees, often narrowing down the search from far removed third cousins to honing in on their suspect.

The technique was popularized with the arrest of the notorious Golden State Killer, Joseph James DeAngelo, and has since helped to put several murderers behind bars. Police departments everywhere are now working with third-party companies to close their cold cases.

One of the many challenges I am learning to deal with in therapy

When I started therapy in my thirties, what I wanted to tackle were issues I was dealing with now- in the present. What I quickly learned in a few sessions was that many of those issues were connected to childhood trauma. Fun, right?

I had never dealt with my childhood. I packed it all in a box, stuffed that box with a shit ton of other boxes, and jammed them all in a closet. …
