Della Sutorius Murdered Her 5th Husband & Attempted to Stage it as Suicide
Darryl Sutorius was just looking for love, but a Black Widow took his life
On February 19, 1996, Dr. Darryl Sutorius, a heart surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio, didn’t show up for work and had not been answering his pages; his co-workers called law enforcement, requesting a welfare check.
Police arrived at the house of Dr and Mrs Sutorius. His wife, Dante, answered the door, and she said she didn’t know where he was. The police noticed his car was still at the house. They asked if they could take a look. They discovered Darryl in the basement on a couch with a gunshot wound to his head.
The investigation started with them looking at the cause of death as a suicide, but some of the evidence would make the death look more and more suspicious. The first was that they found a second bullet hole in the couch. Someone going to shoot themselves doesn’t usually make a test shot that his wife didn’t hear upstairs.
Blood spatter evidence also wasn’t what they expected from a suicide. In his hand was the gun, but there was a significant amount of blood underneath the gun, on his palm, which the handle of the weapon should have blocked.
